April topic: Can we Prevent Wildfires
British Columbia has a wide diversity of ecosystems – grassland, brush and forest. Some ecosystems depend on fire for renewal. A farmer may even burn their field to clear the land for planting, or to control pests, disease and weeds. Fire is not always a good thing; in many cases we don’t actually want it. With so much biodiversity can we actually prevent wildfires? Or even control them?
Each discussion will focus on a single topic presented by Ocean Ambassadors Canada. This free event is made possible with support from West Vancouver Foundation. Refreshments provided. Pre-registration is required.
