Join us for meaningful conversation, warm drinks, and a chance to slow down together. April topic: Can we Prevent Wildfires British Columbia has a wide diversity of ecosystems - grassland, brush and forest. Some ecosystems depend on fire for renewal. A farmer may even burn their field to clear the land for planting, or to control pests, disease and weeds. Fire is not always a good thing; in many cases we don’t actually want it. With so much biodiversity can we actually prevent wildfires? Or even control them? Each discussion will focus on a single topic presented by Ocean Ambassadors Canada. This free event is made possible with support from West Vancouver Foundation. Refreshments provided. Pre-registration is required.

Join Judy Bjornson for this Parkinson's Specific Exercise Program. Exercises Recommended for Parkinson's:
  • Aerobic Exercise:
  • Boxing: Non-contact boxing is highly recommended for improving agility, speed, and cognitive function.
  • Strength Training: Using weights or resistance bands to build muscle, which helps with functional movements.
  • Flexibility & Balance: to reduce fall risks.
  • PWR!Moves (Parkinson Wellness Recovery): Specific, large-amplitude movements designed to counteract the "small" movements caused by PD, such as "power up" squats and reaches.
  • Cognitive Integration: Combining exercise with cognitive tasks, such as counting backward while doing side taps.
