Current Board Members
Margaret Fraser, President
Margaret has been with the LVSS board since January 2016.
Her background is in the non-profit sector, in key administrative roles for over 40 years. She has worked with frail seniors, youth at risk, people with mental and physical disabilities as well as in immigration support services.
Margaret has lived in four provinces across Canada, and along with her husband, she recently returned to enjoy retirement in Lynn Valley.
Margaret likes the “big picture” work of a board of directors, and being part of the growth of LVSS is important to her.
Andrea Winterbottom, Vice President
Andrea has been with the LVSS board since August 2016.
She currently coordinates a meals program for seniors and mentally challenged adults on the North Shore and teaches Brain Fitness and Yoga in the community.
Andrea emigrated from Germany in 1980 and, along with her husband, has raised their two daughters in Lynn Valley.
Lisa Sharp, Acting Treasurer (as of August 2018)
Lisa Sharp, CPA, CGA, has been with the LVSS board since October 2016.
Lisa is a professional accountant with over 20 years’ experience in a variety of businesses and industries. She has strong business acumen along with a diversified background in multiple global jurisdictions. For the past decade she has led and coordinated the corporate governance and regulatory compliance of several publicly traded companies.
Lisa has been a resident in the Lynn Valley area for over 15 years and looks forward to contributing to the growth and well-being of the community.
Damon Akhavan, Member-at-Large
Damon has been with the LVSS board since August of 2015.
His background and strengths are in Finance, Business Development and Marketing.
He is a board member and a member of the Brand Recognition, Budgeting and Long-term Viability committees.
Damon loves working with people of different backgrounds and making a difference in the community.
He is inspired by those who persevere through hardships to reach their dreams and contribute to society.
Matina Spiropoulos, Member-at-Large
Matina brings a non-traditional approach to volunteer work, always trying new ideas to incorporate volunteers to LVSS. She believes in the value of giving back to our growing community and serving the needs of the Lynn Valley residents.
While born and raised in Montreal, Matina has lived in Lynn Valley for almost 20 years. She enjoys taking pictures and telling stories. She is committed to sharing the benefits of LVSS to the community.
Matina is inspired by the work of LVSS board and the successful implementation of policy and programs generated from positive teamwork. She is pleased to be involved with LVSS and to be part of the active and vibrant Lynn Valley community.
Rebecca Morse, Member-at-Large
Rebecca joined the LVSS board in October 2016. She is a lawyer with 15 years of experience in commercial litigation and estate litigation. She has appeared before the British Columbia Supreme Court and the British Columbia Court of Appeal. Rebecca has also represented clients in matters before the High Court of Justice of England and Wales.
Although Rebecca has spent most of her life in British Columbia, she is a relatively new resident to Lynn Valley and moved to the neighborhood with her family in 2015. She is pleased to be involved with LVSS and to be part of the active and vibrant Lynn Valley community.
Len Laycock, Member-at-Large
Len is an internationally recognized marketer and brand builder. Through his work he seeks to promote compassion for life and genuine sustainability. He actively resists Climate Breakdown and the negative consequences it imposes on communities and society.
Len has held senior marketing roles with major national and international retailers and was a founding Director of The Board of Change, an inclusive business network fostering an economic model that values the pursuit of sustainability. Currently he’s CEO of green business consultancy BGB Global, and CEO of tech startup www.horizontal.eco .
Jen Olson Lund, Member-at-Large
Jen has spent the last 30 years working in varied environments in Canada, New Zealand and the US.
Jen has been involved in a number of Boards for organizations that were growing or re-envisioning themselves. She is driven by seeing a positive ripple effect and the collective impact on our communities that come from learning together.
Jen spends time with her two daughters, running and hiking with her dog, as well as studying and practicing holistic nutrition. Jen was drawn to Lynn Valley in 2005 by the mountains, the lifestyle, and the vibrant community.
Sharon Lisette, Secretary (as of November 2018)
Sharon has spent the last 25 years in the engineering world as an executive assistant.
She loves North Vancouver and strongly believes in supporting the community. She is a volunteer at Hendry Hall Theatre and also volunteers at Loutet Farm Market during the summer months.
Sharon and her husband are beekeepers and look for any opportunity to share their knowledge about all the bees and their importance for our future.
No LVSS Board member is employed by any level of Government.
